In meinem 6. und 7. Konsulat, nachdem ich den Buergerkriegen ein Ende gesetzt hatte, habe ich, der ich mit Zustimmung der Allgemeinheit zur hoechsten Gewalt gelangt war, den Staat aus meinem Machtbereich wieder der freien Entscheidung des Senats und des roemischen Volkes uebertragen. Fuer dieses, mein Verdienst, wurde ich auf Senatsbeschluss Augustus genannt. Seit dieser Zeit ueberragte ich zwar alle an Einfluss und Ansehen; an Macht aber besass ich hinfort nicht mehr als diejenigen, die auch ich als Kollegen im Amt gehabt habe.
