Yeah, life is strange. Recently I haven't been myself I guess.
But all of that has changed, I feel like I have awaken from a long slumber...
It is good to be back.
Thanks for the comments on my games, I love feedback! Hopefully now we can get you into the wonderful world of game dev! Gamers make good developers - so I think you'll make a good one.
Exactly, I will start the group in a few days (I am currently doing the enrollment dance at school) but I will definitely make something akin to that. I am also going to write a new indie games article here in a couple of days so keep a look out on the indie games page :)
What game were you playing when your 360..um, passed away? The one I bought last October is starting to make awful noises when I play Mass Effect, I'm a bit worried, lol.
Don't worry man as long as we are here the site isn't completely dead :) I am going to try to find a way to bring all of the GGE refugees together, maybe a new group? The "last of the GGErs group" lol. Or something, just to get the people who are still here involved. I don't know what do you think?
Nobody who has an ounce of intelligence wants to be a drone. I do not want to be told how to act or how to think, and I certainly do not want to be labeled immoral just for playing a video game.
I respect your right to think the way you do, Pantalaimon - it's your life. But I also think that banning a piece of entertainment like Bioshock is even more immoral than the violence you're so concerned about. We all have the right to choose.
We like to believe that we can exercise free will as long as we act within the law. The sad truth is that increasingly we are only free to do what is conventional, and in any environment where morality is dictated to you, there can be no exercise of free will or expression.
Good for you Pantalaimon, if you can find a world suited to you, where your morality is meaningless, because you have no choice.
ultimately what really counts is the game's morals.
Like I said, it's a FPS. So obviously there's bound to be violence in game. Go preach elsewhere.
The game presents the player with a choice. A choice to harvest the little sisters, or to release them. It's the PLAYER that ultimately decides what to do. It's the PLAYER that has to make the moral decision. I personally choose to release them - does that make me a good person? Or am I still "immoral" for playing the game in the first place?
Ah, I can't wait to go to another good show...sometimes it's hit and miss though.....I really wish I was back home in Seattle though...then I could go to the KEXP block party...it's in Capitol Hill, they section off a couple of blocks and put on some damn good music...they don't have that kind of stuff here in Oklahoma lol....
I've seen them a bunch of times since they started up...just keeps getting better and better. Honestly the last show I saw was the best and I was fortunate enough to see them in L.A. prior to the Portland show. Good stuff.
Yeah I regret not seeing a lot of bands in their day....ATDI, Nirvana, Sublime...just to name a few...last show I saw was actually Built to Spill....they put on damn good show....enjoy the ATDI btw....
Gotta say...I'm a bigger Sparta fan than Mars Volta. However, ATDI is better than both. Too bad I never got to see them before they broke up. Anyway, just wanted to throw in that Sparta puts on one hell of a live show. If you get the chance to see them don't miss it.
Hey, love that Philip K. Dick quote. Whenever I read his books I love the concepts but my word, they get dark and gloomy. Can't read too much at a time.
You should chek out Robert Heinlein and any short story collection edited by Gardner Dozois. I've just started reading Frederik Pohl - I'm impressed so far.
Cheers for the comment! I could not help but include that beer list, I have developed quite the taste for it over the years... swigs beer
Lost In Translation took me by surprise. I don't know why Sofia Coppola cops so much flak - I think she's cool and classy. Bill Murray was excellent, as was the gorgeous Scarlett Johansson :)

Have you actually played the game, Pantalaimon?
Oh and it's great to hear that Sparta put on a good show - cos I'm gonna see them @ the Metro on the 21st July! And I cannot wait...

Nobody seems to be viewing it though.... strange.

I was just today thinking of "Lost in Translation" as I watched Bill Murray play golf for a few moments at a PGA event. One of my favorites :)
